Cyber Attack in the Company

This three-day seminar provides medium-sized companies with basic technical and organizational skills for a structured incident response. Participants learn about the entire incident response process — from preparation to detection and analysis to containment, recovery and follow-up — and carry out all these steps in a hands-on experiment within a cyber range.

The AIT Cyber Range is a technical simulation environment that represents a typical IT/OT landscape with interfaces of information technology to operational/production technology within a company. Technical recordings are used to simulate cyber attacks that require participants to react. Based on realistic scenarios, basic technical tools such as intrusion detection systems (IDS) and security information and event management systems (SIEM systems) are used to analyze security events and derive response measures. Technical staff members analyze the situation and use available information to create a summarized status description. This serves as basis for managers to take decisions on necessary countermeasures. Technical staff and managers together will implement most suitable measures and communicate to internal and external stakeholders.

The focus is not on complete attack detection, but on understanding the necessary technical and organizational principles required to deal with cyber incidents in a company systematically and comprehensibly.
