HV Battery Pack EMC assessment using 3D Simulation

Abstract

High voltage battery systems play a crucial role with regard to the EMC characteristics of an electric vehicle. 3D EMC simulations can be used to analyses and optimize the design at an early stage with regard to possible EMC problems. The study shows various analysis options such as the evaluation of the magnetic field strengths (in relation to ICNIRP), shielding effectiveness and the HV/LV coupling and filtering using a realistic model.

Furthermore, the influence of various design parameters, including the number of enclosure screws and positioning of electronic components inside the battery pack, is assessed to determine SE variations. The findings contribute to a deeper understanding of EMC challenges in HV systems and provide recommendations for improving shielding effectiveness through optimized design and simulation strategies.
