Ultra Low Level Radionuclide Laboratory

Our ultra low level radionuclide laboratory is located in a chamber made of 5 cm high-purity steel, which is in turn insulated from the outside world by strong concrete walls. A combined lead/boron-doped paraffin/copper sandwich structure is used as a passive detector shield. To reduce the high-energy cosmic background, plastic scintillators that enclose the passive shield are operated in an anticoincidence circuit with the detector.
