Elektromagnetic Compatibility / EMC Test Laboratory
Electrical and electronic devices and systems must correspond to strict requirements regarding their electromagnetic radiation as well as their susceptibility against such fields. The CE mark is compulsory. This has resulted in a need for support in the electronics and electrical industry for the development of EMC compliant equipment and systems.
This service is offered to Austrian businesses in the accredited and notified Seibersdorf EMC test centre. It is equipped with an electromagnetically shielded absorber-linded chamber, a shielded high-frequency laboratory, a standard open area test site with 10 m and 30 m measuring sections as well as appropriate EMC and radio test instruments.
With the extensive deployment of base stations for mobile phone operations the question of the safe organization of mobile phone systems is becoming increasingly important. People are becoming increasingly exposed to high-frequency, electromagnetic fields. In addition, complex, electronic systems such as those used in motor vehicles are required to function error-free in their electromagnetic environment. With new technologies such as UMTS, Bluetooth and WLAN the working frequencies reach 2 GHz and above. "Our research and main areas of work will thereby gain further significance in the future," confirmed Kurt Lamedschwandner, Head of the Mobile Communications Safety business unit.
